Have a quick read of [this story from the BBC] which talks about some battery performance issues users are experiencing with MacBook and MacBook Pros.

A part of this performance issue is that your battery swells up - doesn’t sound like a performance issue to me but there we go! So Apple have released a software update and I quote:

The company advises users to install the update on all “MacBook and MacBook Pro computers and extra batteries that were purchased between February 2006 and April 2007″.

Now how exactly can you install a software update on a battery?…

Ideas for Inventions or at least stuff what people should make…

These are some ideas I’ve had that are taking up space in my head - can someone please make them for me? Ta

  • A little sensor that you can attach to your backpack a beeps when the sun gets too hot and there’s a danger of you getting sunburnt - or something like that
  • A pen that draws in Ant pheromones so you can lead the Ants back out of your house once they’re in
  • A recharge shop. A place where you can drop stuff off to be recharged for a small fee, or pay a larger amount to swap your dead battery for a full one if you’re in a rush

That’s all I can remember for now…I really need to start keeping a pad next to my bed so I can jot this stuff down!

The maths of CoCo Pops adverts

So I’m sure we’ve all seen the new [CoCo Pops] advert for their new cereal. If you haven’t it’s basically the four other types of CoCo Pop based cereals (Coco Pops, Coco Pops Coco Rocks, Coco Pops Crunchers and Coco Pops Mega Muncher’s) into a new cereal called [Coco Pops Creations] - what do you mean you can’t keep up! This is important!

Anyways, in all the previous adverts for CoCo Pops (and derivatives) the croc steals the CoCo pops from CoCo the monkey, then CoCo and some of his jungle peeps go after the croc to get the cereal back.

Removing all the marketing from this the following facts can be derived:

  • Croc vs Monkey - Croc wins (well duh!)
  • Croc vs Monkey + Friends - Croc looses

Even in other adverts where the croc has some gorilla friends he still looses!

Okay, so in the new advert, the kid is eating the new cereal and CoCo is there too (watching him like some kind of monkey paedophile). Then the croc wanders in and grabs the cereal off the table. So we know what happens now: the croc wins.

Ahhh but something weird happens: CoCo blurs into 4 monkeys, and the croc puts the cereal back. So what have we learnt from this:

  • Croc vs Monkey + 3 Clones - Croc looses

Who would have thought it! 4 monkeys can take out a croc! Hmm well there we go. Anyone care to test this theory?

I submitted a photo to the “We are all photographers now” exhibit at The Musée de l’Elysée (a museum for photography in Switzerland) and it got shown.

And they sent me a pic of it being shown!
