London Double Header

It was Dr Fox’s birthday recently so rather than the usual set of hankies we decided to take him to Twickenham to the London double header - the first game of the Guinness premiership for London Irish and Harlequinns and also Saracens and Wasps. Harlequinns beat London Irish but deservedly so, although at times it did appear as if the ref blew his whistle each time Irish had the ball.

With a healthy supply of chocolate from his sister, a few pints of Guinness and the last 4 pies from the van a good day was had by all.

Golf and Stoats

Today I went t play golf at [Ampfield 3 par pitch and putt].

Not only was it fun, it was also a nature adventure!

First off we saw a Squirell which looked like it was going to wander off with our golf balls - pretty normal for England I guess. But then we saw a [stoat]!

A STOAT!

It was awesome! And much smaller then you would imagine, but a really nice shade of brown with a little black tail.

Then a little while later we saw a little bunny rabbit which was being chased by the stoat. But the rabbit was much bigger than the stoat so it gave up and decided to have a good old roll about on the putting green - which looked like it was having a fit.

Also I beat Marc, but got 12 on the final hole thanks to a trench of a bunker :(

Beer Festival Over!

Well the reading beer festival is over, and I have to say I’m a little disappointed.

Compared to last year we seemed to choose a lots of crap tasting beers, and the names didn’t quite seem up to the usual standard - though plenty were of [GSV] quality. Maybe it was our fault, maybe it was the beer, who knows.

As for the full report Marc is in the process of creating some top trumps from the 36 beers sampled - look out for those, they’re probably not available in shops….

On the up side Spiller was wearing a cool hat which provided great entertainment :)

Reading Beer Festival

People! This weekend it is [Reading Beer Festival]. It’s at Kings meadow, near the massive Tesco that’s near the Reading train station.

Go!

For those of you that haven’t been to a beer festival before here’s what you do:

  1. Pay some money to get in and get a glass (get a pint one)
  2. Have a quick flick though the book of beers
  3. Choose one with either a funny name (normally sold out) or darker than the colour of space
  4. Get a half of it - yeah I know I told you to get a pint glass, but this is an all day thing. Plus it might taste crap!
  5. Try your mates beer, and let them try yours
  6. Back to step two..

See? Easy!

I’ll be there from the start on Saturday, expect a full report sometime on Monday :)
