You’ve seen the adverts on the TV, his CD is probably in the shops, and now someone I know thinks it’s cool. Yes this is the man who covered Nirvana’s “Smells like teen spirit” in a ‘swing’ style (if you can call it a style).
If you really do need to hear it you can do so at [Verve Music]
But seriously, make him stop, for the sake of the children….
In the past, I’ve accused John of being a musical snob, as I have been known to enjoy the guilty pleasures of cheesy pop, and swing jazz. In this case however, I’m totally with you! That is REALLY bad. “Sounds Like Teen Spirit” sounds more like “Middle aged man, after too many spirits” and “Everybody Cries” surely the easiest song on the album to convert to a swing style, has been totally butchered! This man must be stopped, before any more innocents are exposed to slurred, warbles!
I think there’s another one too called Richard Cheese (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Z40S/ref=m_art_li_2/102-8782120-8290549?s=music&v=glance&n=5174) though this dude may well be made up as the website refers to him as ‘Dick Cheese’ and tells you to download the tracks via ‘iCroons’.
So the point of this album is Rock Anthems in Swing style, right.
Who on Earth then suggested Lionel Richie’s Hello and The Cure’s Lovecats as Rock.
I’m mobilising the forces as we speak…
I found this its even better then Paul Anka’s version!

That is actually the definition of pure evil.
The phrase ‘even better’ is only going to encourage this type of thing, which we obviously need to put a stop to!
