So here’s my tips on how to get started in nano-tech:
- stop reading sci-fi
- don’t do a course in electronics and communication - at least aim for robotics!
- don’t ask me
done.
CAUTION: Sides may need to be re-stitched after watching and hearing this - headphones required!!
Go watch more: [Zero Punctuation]
Also re-stitch sides!
Confused? then let me explain. We’re currently in the future that as a child I looked forward to but it’s slightly more disappointing than I expected it to be, for instance the following things are missing:
- Flying Cars - car’s don’t really seem to have changed at all…
- Space Bases/Travel/Stuff - 50% of the stuff we send into space explodes :(
- Robots - OK we have a few things that can [vacuum your carpet], but nothing more really…
Nothing particularly outrageous, but still they’re all wrong :(
So here are my predictions for 2010 (the new future). They’re split into two categories:
- Concrete predictions - Stuff that totally will happen!
- Fluffy predictions - fluffy ideas that I can argue I got right - possibly contains humour
As a side note this idea has been totally scraped from the [last Lug Radio podcast] but now that it’s under a [Creative Commons License] it’s all good :D.
Fasten your seatbelts…
Concrete Predictions
- 1 Terabyte iPod - that’s a lot of songs kids
- Nuclear Fusion - putting stuff together can create at least as much energy as breaking it apart!
- Electric Cars - like the [Tesla] but I think that they’re going to become more common as better batteries are invented
Fluffy Predictions
- iPod connections on everything - most probably your microwave
- A generation of Adults with massive forearms from playing Wii too much in their childhood
- Linux kicking ass on the desktop - yeah yeah laugh it up, one day it will come true…
- Companies becoming more open - more open development, methods, what they’re thinking, what they’re planning etc
- Maybe a laboratory under the sea….maybe in another 10 or so years… :)
Come on then, what are your predictions for 2010?
Anyone ever heard or used the phrase “it’s like clapham junction” to denote a busy space/time?
No. Me neither. But Marc seems to think everyone knows it and uses it on a daily basis.
So I made up my own phrase to use when he used “clapham junction”. Ladies and Gents I present to you:
“elephants underpants”
Try to use it in a sentance today :)
The BBC has entire section of it’s site dedicated to Odd news with a kind of video podcasty thingy to go with it.
It’s full of those really weird news stories about giant seals crushing cars and red panda’s escaping from zoo’s.
You should totally check it out: [bbc.co.uk/oddnews]
Oranges are orange.
Tangerines are tangerine.
But what happens if I have a tangerine Orange? Or an orange Tangerine?
Is that how they sort them in the supermarket?
Peppers start off green, then go red, then orange and then yellow. So do they get migrated from section to section? Are all the yellow ones really old green ones?
Also by the above logic should a Banana be called a Yellow.
The BBC has a [driving theory test quiz] in their ‘magazine’ this week - but it turns out I’m unclassified :(
Try it for yourself :)
[GMail] (or Googlemail) is a nice free email service from Google that gives you almost 3Gigglebytes of storage.
It’s free because Google put context sensitive adverts down the right hand side when you’re reading your email - it’s completely unobtrusive but can sometimes be quite amusing, for instance:
In a conversation about Pokemans and stuff with marc:
Proud Navy Wife?
We have Love My Sailor and Proud Navy Wife items especially for you!

Get the book. Overcome the love locking you in. Deal with the abuse

Nice :D
