Why can’t I Wii??

Well Woolworths have fucked me over my Wii.

I should have guessed given the amount of shit I had to go through to actually pre-order one but I’m still pretty pissed off and there’s a 50/50 chance the Romsey outlet will become a towering inferno sometime this evening.

the saga is thus:

* 22/10/06 : One of my friends tells me Amazon just started doing Wii pre-orders (thanks for telling me Amazon, what was the point of putting my email on the list exactly??!!)

* Amazon sold out in 7 minutes and I didn’t get one. I hunted around a bit and found Woolworths were guaranteeing pre-orders for the week of release so I ordered one.

* 23/10/06 : I get an email asking some security questions – but it’s simply shit like where I live and what bank my card is with.

* 24/10/06 : I get another email saying they need to contact me. I give them a number and tell them when I’ll be there.

* No fucker calls.

* I send an email to the customer services dept (read robot/machine) displaying my usual tact in these situations (see below)

Customer Service Response Agent,

Congratulations for failing to call me during my specified time window. Perhaps you can try again tomorrow (Friday).

If this is a problem with my card I suggest that you remove the preceding 0 (zero) from the issue number. My issue number is a single digit only but your web form only provides a drop down box with two digit numbers. As every other issue number box I have ever seen specifies that this must be entered exactly on the card I don’t quite understand why you chose to be different.

Regards

John

* 25/10/06 : I get a nice email back saying they will call me tomorrow

* No fucker calls

* So I try again – but with slightly less tact

Paul,

As much as I like sitting at my desk while eating lunch it would be nice to actually receive a phone call from you (or whoever) and get my Nintendo Wii pre-ordered.

I should be in work all monday so you can call the provided number (*********) any time during that day.

If once again I do not receive a call I will cancel my order.

* 28/10/06 : I get in on to work and find a voicemail left a 8pm on friday (WTF) asking me to call them

* I call them!! Here’s the jist:

John: There’s a problem with my order I got told to call you (gives order number)
Bot: Ok so can you just confirm your address
John: Yep blah blah
Bot: Well it says here 22-24 the hundred 0666
John: That’s the shop, I don’t live there, I just want my Wii sent there
Bot: Oh I see

* So it would seem that I am the only person ever to order something and get it sent to a shop. But it’s all sorted and my blood pressure returns to normal

* 06/12/06 : I get an online message in my woolies account, which says:

Nintendo have only shipped part of the promised stock for Nintendo Wii to all retailers within the UK. Due to this, we have only received part of our allocation. We are led to believe by Nintendo that we will receive all stock in time for pre-Christmas delivery. Please accept our apologies for this delay.

* Ok but will I get my Wii?, I send them a message back asking that exact same thing

* 07/12/06 : The response….

* Yeah thanks machine

So short story shorter – no Wii for me just yet. But luckily I will have a Nunchuck – hopefully I can beat the life out of some Woolworths shelf stacker to make myself feel better but I doubt it’ll work :(

******* UPDATE *******

My Wii is on it’s way – I regret nothing!
